Fishfingers cost 5p each, the canteen at Tonypandy Lower Comp was serve-yourself with seemingly endless choice of beige boiled and fried stodge - all of it delicious - or lush as we used to say in the Wales of my childhood, ketchup adorned pretty much everything, I never heard of mayonnaise until the 90s, I loved mushy peas, my mother never 'cooked' them at home.
